Newark woman charged with rape

NEWARK - A Newark woman convicted for failing to call 911 after her toddler ingested anti-psychotic medication has now been charged with raping a child.

Angela M. Walsh, 37, 250 E. Main St., Newark, was charged with one count of rape, a first-degree felony.

According to Assistant Licking County Prosecutor Jenny Gonzalez-Wells, the victim disclosed to an adult at least two incidents of sexual conduct and some inappropriate touching happened in a two-year time frame. A criminal complaint noted the act is alleged to have happened between April 2016 and February 2018 when the victim was between 6 and 8-years-old. The warrant for Walsh's arrest was sealed until she was arrested on Thursday.

During a bond hearing Friday afternoon, Walsh told Magistrate Mattie Klein she had a permanent place to live, a job, and bills.

"I just want to go home and fight from there," Walsh said.

Klein set bond at $100,000 and ordered Walsh not to have contact with the victim or anyone under 18.
