While the numbers are still high, women are far less likely to wind up on death row, or be executed, than men.

Female inmates make up just 2 percent of the total death row population with 2,541 men currently awaiting execution, according to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

 

Since 1976, when the death penalty was reinstated, 17 women have been executed compared to 1,519 men.

So why is there such a big difference in the numbers of men and women given the death penalty?

পুলিস সূত্রে খবর, ওই যুবক অক্টোবরের ১৬ তারিখ থেকেই নিখোঁজ ছিলেন। বল্লবগড় পুলিস স্টেশনে ওই যুবকের নামে একটি মিসিং ডায়রি করেন তার ভাই। সেখানে বলা হয় যে ১৬ অক্টোবর সকালে কাজে বেরিয়ে আর বাড়ি ফেরেনি তার দাদা। সেই নিখোঁজ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে এও বলা হয় যে ওই যুবকের এক বান্ধবী নাকি জানান যে সেদিন তার বাড়িতে গিয়েছিলেন যুবক। কিন্তু ল্যাপটপ আর গাড়ি সেই বাড়িতে রেখেই কোথায় চলে যান। 

 

ফরিদাবাদ পুলিসের মুখপাত্র সুবে সিংহ এর কথায়, "তদন্তে জানা গিয়েছে ১৬ অক্টোবর লিভ ইন পার্টনার ওই যুবককে প্রথমে ঘুমের ওষুধ খাওয়ান সঙ্গিনী। এরপর অচৈতন্য যুবককে অটোয় করে নিয়ে যাওয়া নির্জন এলাকায়। সেখানে তাকে প্রথমে পেট্রলে স্নান করানো হয়। এরপর আগুন লাগিয়ে দেওয়া হয়৷" পুলিস জানায় ২০১৯ থেকে মহিলার সঙ্গে লিভ ইন করছিলেন যুবা। 

এও জানা যায় অভিযুক্ত মহিলার আগের পক্ষের একটি মেয়ে রয়েছে।   Source 1

A woman and one other person have been arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly thrashing and misbehaving with a traffic police constable. Source 1

Narendra Shinde, senior inspector of Malad traffic chowky, noticed the violation, and asked his personnel to take action.

MUMBAI: After being hauled up for traffic violations, a mother-daughter duo got into an altercation with a traffic cop at Malad and allegedly assaulted a woman officer from the Nirbhaya Squad who was trying to broker peace. A video clip of the incident has gone viral. The accused, who have been booked for assaulting a public servant, are not traceable, police said.
The incident occurred near Patel Shopping Centre at Malad West on Tuesday evening. Shivani Kediya and her mother, Lakshmi, both residents of Malad, had allegedly double parked their vehicle which sported illegal tinted glasses on its windows.  Source 2
